Mashpee Public Library FY 2005 FY 2008 <br /> Service Goals and Objectives <br /> Goal 1: continue work on the library Building project. <br /> 1. Library Director assists the library Building Committee in determining library eligibility for <br /> October 2004'construction Grant round for MBLC Library construction Grant Program. <br /> Action: Library Director assists Library Building Committee in preparing letter of intent for. <br /> upcoming grant round if library is deemed eligible to subrr ft an application by October 2004 <br /> deadline. <br /> . Library Director provides infor7nation to the Library Building Committee for preparation of a <br /> construction grant application. <br /> Action: Library Director provides data needed to prepare and submit a grant application by <br /> January Zoo 5. She acts as a resource to the grant writers and monitors that the grant submission <br /> reaches the MBLC in a timely r manner. <br /> . Increase the membership of the Library Building committee to replace those members lost to <br /> attrition. <br /> Action: Building Committee expands membership of-the committee up to 13 members, seeking <br /> people who have skills that would enhance the makeup of the commif#ee. <br /> Goal : Develop strategies to deal with the library's space problems, make collections <br /> more accessible to patrons, and make the current building more attractive until <br /> construction begins. <br /> 1. Repair wood trim at main entry in July 2004. <br /> k <br /> Action. Work with the town maintenance department to restore main entry to an aftractiv <br /> condition by replacing rotted trim boards. <br /> . Work with volunteers from the'Building Com it ee and Friends of the Library to clean and <br /> repaint public areas of the library to make the library more welcoming and attractive. Look at <br /> ways to replace worn, stained carpet at entry. <br /> Action: Work with volunteer groups to clean walls and woodwork prior to painting the interior of <br /> the library. Gather quotes for painting in the summer of 200 4. Painting will be completed after <br /> Labor Day. <br /> . Submit an article for October Town Meeting 2004 for Library Bond of$3,500,000 and debt <br /> exclusion vote on November 2, 2004. <br /> Action: Schedule public forums and publicity prior to Town Meeting to familiarize voters with the <br /> library building project, and the importance of attending Town Meeting and voting the debt <br /> exclusion. Building committee publicity committee produces a bookmark explaining the project <br /> and timeline. Bookmark is distributed at various places around town during the summer and up <br /> until the election. <br />
