Gave Burton welcomed Nancy Soderberg, a new <br /> member to the Board of Trustees. Dave expressed appreciation from the entire Board to Nancy for her <br /> interest in the Mashpee Library, and her anticipated valuable contributions to the work of the Library <br /> Trustees. <br /> Library Director's Report—Helene DeFoe. <br /> Helene reported that the library website page is now:completed and ready for release in early <br /> November to the Town website. Helene demonstrated the contents of the library page on her <br /> computer to theTru tees. The web address for the page i s HP:Umashpeema.vi rtualtownhall.net. <br /> The Friends of the Library are also working on a web page for inclusion on Cape Cod Online, the <br /> Internet arm of the Cape Cod Times. Bob Kemp, a former Mashpee resident and Chamber of <br /> Commerce board member, now with The Cape Cod Times, will be assisting in linking the two library <br /> pages together. <br /> Helene commented on the newly refurbished library: with internal painting completed, and carpeting <br /> scheduled for cleaning next t week. Many positive comments have been received regarding the <br /> improved atmosphere in the library. The staff is greatly enjoying working in much ricer surroundings. <br /> new maintenance crew was hired as of August 2004, and Helene stated that they are doing a very <br /> good job. it was decided not to accept a donation of new carpeting from Carpet Barn. The location of <br /> seams that would be necessary for installation of new carpeting was considered a possible safety <br /> hazard(tripping). A:rote of appreciation will be forward to Carpet Bala for their generous offer. <br /> Bridgeft Bontrager, the newly hired staff member from Martha's Vineyard to fill the technical services <br /> position, started on Tuesday, Oct. 12t". Helene reported that Bridgett, who has required no training <br /> for the job, is working in beautifully. A research librawrilan by training, with excellent customer skills, <br /> Bridg tt will prove to be an invaluable asset to the Mashpee Library staff. <br /> 0 RFQ responses from Architects. Helene reported that 38 responses were received from <br /> architectural firms to the RFP, advertised in the Central register, the Cape Cod Times, and the <br /> Mashpee Enterprise. There are three phases to the project: (1)assist with the grant application; <br /> 2 design the new library; 3 oversee the construction of the new building. Three finalists have been <br /> selected, with one alternate. Interviews will be conducted on 10/15/04, and finalized by Monday, Oct. <br /> 1eh. The three finalists will be interviewed by Joyce Mason, She#don Gilbert, Helene DeFoe# Torry <br /> O'Neill, and a representative from the Library Board Trustees. The final selection will be faced to <br /> the Library Board of Commissioners by October 19th. <br /> • New seabury Country Club meeting on Oct. e.
