Il ashpee Public Library
P.O. Box 657
Jlashpee, dila 02 ,
Circulation for October 2005 totaled 10,609 items, which is 1,523 items more
than last October. ear-to-date, the library has circulated 43,719 items which is
9_% more than the same period last year. At this point, we have surpassed the
Brewster Ladies Library by 431 items. Last year, vire circulated about 3,000
iters less than Brewster. At this point, we are less than 400 items behind
Chatham and Vineyard Haven Libraries. One again, those libraries are much
larger and better staffed than Mashpee, demonstrating that i ashpee continues
maximize i e the resources it has.
am currently working n the FY 2007 budget. The Capital portion is dine at
Torn Full on November 17 th. The operational budget is due on November 20.
Distribution of the budget ackets was delayed until November 2nd because of
the Torn Meeting workload in the Board of Selectmen's Office. 1 am-developing
the figures we discussed at the October Board Meeting. This will be the first year
that the budget is being entered into MUNIS, the town's financial software. Since
I don't have access to lIS at the library, 1 will have to develop the information
here and take it to Town Fall and enter it there.
I have had on-going discussions with David DelVecchio, the head of it ash ee'
Information Technology Department, about the difficulties of not being able to
access MUNIS from the library. In addition to the budget, the library's payroll
also had to be entered at Town Mall bi-weekly. David is working on getting
wireless access at the library so I can connect to the Town's Network. It involves
placing tall antennae on the library roof and being able to transmit a signal to the
crater tower behind Town Full. If that plan works out, I will be able to log onto
MUNIS from the library. An added benefit to achieving that would be that
patrons with laptops with Internet capability will be able to log on heir laptops at
the library. David has had a company look at the library roof and feels that the
t
plan will work. I will let you knowhow that works out.
Susan Cannavo has attended the second Readers Advisory training in Brewster.
Patrons are making use of her suggested titles and checking many items out.
couple of hundred extra tines circulated this month thanks to Susan's cart of
selections.
