r
5
} On Manua '
January ret with the entire subcommittee to go over the results of the
first meeting. Stewart joined us at that meeting and offered further comments
about proposed reductions. He pointed out that some of the areas that the
subcommittee thought could be reduced were against the building code or would
not result in any significant savings. Joyce concluded the meeting by asking
Stewart to prepare three floor plans and their related cost estimates for a meeting
of the full committee on January 22nd. Stewart prepared a 20,800 SF plan, based
on the grant submission, reduced by %, a 15,500 SF two-story building and a
142665 SF single story building. The price differential in the two smaller buildings •
come from wood framing versus steel fanning in the single story and a smaller
footprint in that building because of less unassigned space needed elevator and
stairwells). Stewart distributed price comparisons, ofthe three buildl g . The
26,666 building requires the least amount of town funding because of the grant
money. The town would ld need an additional $2,000,409 from Town Meeting. The
single story building is $371$000 more expensive and the smaller two-story
building would require an extra rilfion dollars more than the grant building.
The committee was allowed to ask Stewart questions but no public comments
were taken. The committee will meet again on February 6th to review the options
Stewart presented. The Falmouth Enterprise covered the meeting in the January
26th edition. It was a very well balanced account to the meeting.
t
5
