Brownie Troop ff 674 visited the library on January 17th. The troop created a time <br /> capsule which is being housed at the library. The girls plan to open their time capsule <br /> when they are seniors in high school. There were 18 people who had a tour of the library <br /> and a story time. <br /> I attended the performance Alex the Jester- at the K. C. Coombs School on January <br /> 26h. This performance had originally been scheduled for December and I had visited <br /> a. <br /> every classroom with a"jester story time in preparation for his performance. The show <br /> was rescheduled because Alex had an accident in December and was on crutches. <br /> The Cape Cod Children's Librarians Roundtable meeting was held on.January 26"' i <br /> Sandwich. Vickie Beene-Beavers from SNILS presented ars update on the State-wide <br /> Summer Reading Program. This year all sumer reading participants, state--vide, will <br /> register on-lira. It is hoped that by having the sumnmer reading on-line, more teens Will <br /> participate and that there will be greater participation by people who do not actually visit <br /> the library during the summer. Also, it is hoped that this will provide a more accurate <br /> count of the summer reading participants. <br /> A Cub Scout Troop visited the library on January 29th. The boys were here to try to find <br /> the newspaper from the day of their birth. I helped them with the Mashpee Enterprise <br /> and then I showed them how to access the Boston dobe ori-line. They also wanted to <br /> find folktales and folk heroes. The group of 9 told me they had an interesting afternoon <br /> at the library. - <br /> The Upper Cape Family Network held a meeting on January 31 t in Bourne. The UCF <br /> is the grant project which brings us Rosemary Modic and funding for family <br /> programming at the library. <br />
