Open Meeting Law Details <br /> IV. If the meeting shall be of a regional or district governmental body, the officer calling the meeting shall file <br /> the notice thereof with the clerk of each city and town within such region or district: and the cleric shall post the <br /> notice in his/her office or on the principal official bulletin board of the city or town. <br /> V. The notice is always required to include the date, time, and place of such meeting. <br /> _ r <br /> VI. Filing and posting is always the responsibility of the officer calling such meeting. <br /> IV. EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> Linder certain well-defined circumstances a governmental body may hold ars executive session <br /> excluding the general public. <br /> In order to convene an executive session , the following procedure must be followed: <br /> a. The.governmental body has,to first convene in an open session, conforming to the usual notice <br /> requirements. <br /> b. A majority of the members must vote to go into executive session, and the vote of each member must be <br /> recorded on a roll call and entered into the minutes. <br /> c. The presiding officer must state before the executive session if the governmental body will reconvene after <br /> the executive session. <br /> An executive session may b ..held only for one of the following purposes: <br /> . To discuss the reputation character, physical condition, or mental health, rather than the professional <br /> competence , of an individual. NOTE : Since this Laver is to be construed toward openness, a very broad <br /> interpret ation.of the term `+professional competences' is called for. This would encompass all aspects of a <br /> person's professional status. The discussion of professional competence, at any time and in any manner, <br /> should be open to the public and not held in executive session.
