This month's circulation-was almost the sane number as last May's 9.992, Our year-to-date TD total of 123,1 iters exceeded last-years total by 61550. We are still about % ahead of the same point last year. In addition, our YTD total for downloadable audio books s is 132 items, Wh ife I have been pleased with the reception of this r_ ew r t some of the member Iibrarr s have expressed dissatisfaction with the vendors response to problems. Since several libraries opted Trot.to continue with this service, we will terminate the service as ofJuly-I . - We a had received a group subscription price from Recorded Books so it was not affordables a stand alone option. _A commiftee from CLAMS will be exploring other vendors and making. recommendations for new products to the membership. This service will be revisited later in,the new fiscal year. Marilyn Farren and 1 inter0ewed five candidates last week for the temporary summer circulation position at the librai y. We were pleased to have five good candidates to choose from and have recommended one choke to the oard. The toy candidate r1 -bpresented to the Board later i the -meeting for a vote on the recommendation.tion. The candidate has extensive. CLAMS experience and can step right into the position without training. The other candidates had interesting skills but didn't have the CLAMS circulation experience: The position is scheduled to begin on July 1 s . on May .31st, I attended a meeting at the Ashland Public Library for the libraries on the grant construction waiting list. David and Dianna joined me that the meeting. ,- Rob Maier, Director of the I I LC and some of - the Library Commissioners spoke about what they expect. to. happen over the net few months. • -I'm attaching a summary of the meeting that I prepared.following the meeting. I was very interested to tour the Ashland Public Library. The demographics, building sizes, and staffing were very similar to Il ashpee. -Viewing that library gage rye a good idea of what 22,'000 SF would look like. The meeting room was about the size we are planning iii the new library. and -the. -building ' eras , constructed on two levels. The young Adult area and Quiet Sturdy spaces were also features,vire have planned for the new library. i
