I met with the new price-principal, Claudia Motta, of the K.C. Coombs School on October
20. She had contacted rye to come and explain the BEAR Be Excited About Reading)
Card program, a collaboration between the school and the library, which has been been
ongoing for the past two or three years. The BEAR cards had been discontinued by the
school because the previous administrator in charge is now a classroom teacher. Mrs.
Motta is very grilling to resurrect the program and collaborate With the library. I
explained to Mrs. Motta other wdys I had done outreach at the school: first grade visits t
promote library cards, first grade Meld trips, Kindergarten registration storyti e,
specialized storytimes for the entire student body, and promotion of the summer reading
program. She seemed quite pleased Haat I was willing to come into the school and asked
nye to participate in a school-wide kick-off event for the BEAR cards and also to continue
with the Kindergarten registration program. She was also interested in using some of our
new parenting videos for her teacher training sessions.
}
