Town of Mashpee Mashpee Public Library Library Expansion Building Committee Library Board of Trustees Minutes of Meeting January 12, 2000 A joint Meeting of the Town of Mashpee Library Expansion Building Committee and Library Board of Trustees was called to order at the Mashpee Public Library, in the Library Meeting Room, 100 Nathan Ellis Highway, Mashpee, Massachusetts at 3 :45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2000 . Mr. David Burton, Chairman, presided. Committee Members present : David Burton; Ernest Cole, Jr. ; and Edward DeFoe. Library Board of Trustee Members present: Anton Buschenfeldt; Carl DiEste; Mimi Marsh; and Diana Smith. Also present : Helene DeFoe, Library Director. Powers and Company, Inc. : Darlene Powers, Architect; and Jay K. Lucker, Library Consultant. A quorum being present, the Chairman called the Meeting to order. The Chairman announced that he had just concluded an .informal discussion with Ms. Powers, Mr. Lucker and Helene DeFoe, regarding the library expansion process . He acknowledged the process is in the beginning stages, with discussion focusing on programming, etc. The Chairman then thanked all of the Members present for attending this Meeting, and proceeded to recognize Darlene Powers . Ms . Powers stated that she has made an agreement with the Town to make an attempt to deliver within approximately three months, a schematic of a library with attached information such as a cost benefit analysis, as well as a strategy for use during construction of the library, and a strategy for more urban design issues beyond the building itself (parking, overflow parking, the Mashpee Commons development, and green space) . Ms . Powers acknowledged Jay Lucker. She noted the first issue to be addressed would be to collect information, investigation and programming with regard to the physical conditions of the existing site and building; and to establish as part of programming, the long-range services to be provided
