Town of Mashpee <br /> Mashpee Public Library <br /> Library Expansion Building Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> March 20, 2000 <br /> The Town of Mashpee Library Expansion Building Committee <br /> Meeting was called to order at the Mashpee Public Library, in the <br /> Library Meeting Room, 100 Nathan Ellis Highway, Mashpee, <br /> Massachusetts at 3 : 40 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2000 . The <br /> Chairman, David Burton, presided. <br /> Committee Members present: David Burton, Chairman; Ernest <br /> Cole, Jr. ; Edward DeFoe; John Rena, non-voting Member; and Grace <br /> Talmage. <br /> Also present: Helene DeFoe, Library Director; Mimi Marsh, <br /> Library Trustee, and Mike Bailey, Mashpee Enterprise. <br /> From Powers and Company, Inc. : Darlene Powers, Architect. <br /> A quorum being present, the Chairman called the Meeting to <br /> order and recognized Darlene Powers . <br /> Ms . Powers outlined the meeting format, stating she would <br /> first provide status reports, agenda, and meeting notes . She <br /> also provided an information packet for everyone. <br /> Ms . Powers clarified this is to be a discussion meeting <br /> regarding the operations of a multiple floor library, which is <br /> quite different than a single floor library. She expressed <br /> concern regarding land use stating she feels all of the proposed <br /> expansion should happen under the roof which is built the first <br /> time. Flexibility and floor use should be examined. She also <br /> mentioned floor use distribution, staffing, privacy, and quiet <br /> requirements should be examined. <br /> Ms . Powers stated there has been communication/input with <br /> the Library Director and that second floor issues should be <br /> further examined. She noted the next meeting is scheduled for <br /> Friday, April 14th and will consist of an in-progress <br /> presentation of a building. <br /> Both Ms . Powers and the Library Director stated there is <br /> no information to report on the status of the Deed Rights and <br /> Restrictions. It was agreed that the Chairman would contact <br /> Town Counsel by phone in an attempt to obtain said Deed <br /> information. <br /> Powers and Company, Inc. is to contact Dufresne Henry for <br /> any possible additional topographical information. <br /> They are also awaiting site testing results from the Rowley <br />
