Firm.
Ms . Powers stated she would provide examples of how columns
and foundations of an existing building can be reused in an
attempt to contribute to the overall cost of the project .
The plans for the existing building have been reviewed by
Ms. Powers and they are currently being reviewed by the
structural engineer. Ms . Powers spoke to construction materials
including slabs, condition of insulation, position of windows,
and ceiling heights.
Ms. Powers had nothing further to report on potential
opportunities for improved site use (Mashpee Commons shared
parking, utilities, and curb drives) .
A Cape Cod Commission review is not required for this
project, as confirmed by the Town Planner.
The matter of the possibility of an alternative site is in
the process of being researched and will be addressed at a future
meeting.
Ms. Powers continued to present/discuss concept design by
stating the edges of an atrium center/lobby should be intensified
in order to provide as much public service aspects as possible.
She also spoke to visibility aspects, filtered daylight, and
interior landscape.
Ms. Powers would like to begin by focusing on organization
of the circulation desk area; she requested input from the
Library Director so that she can prepare an in-progress
presentation, the input from which would result in a final
presentation.
At this point of the Meeting Ms . Powers stated she has organized the existing columns and
foundation dimensions . Ms. Powers reported she is
simultaneously working on incorporating energy designs in this
area, which would include a reading area, fans, lights, possible
wicker furniture (a more casual atmosphere) .
