BOARD of LIBRARY TRUSTEES � REGULAR MOT Y MEETING TIES AY,FEBRUARY 12, 2008 MAS EE LIBRARY MEETING Root' 'resent: David Burton, Carlo D'Este,Dianna Smith,Jane Dolan,Heather Lak tos,Nancy Soderberg(arrived 6:50 p.m.), and Helene DeFoe, Library Director). . . Absent: Aran MacDonald-Dailey Chairman David Burton called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Approval of Minutes Dianna Smith motioned to accept the minutes of the Meeting of January,8, 2008 as written; Heather Lakatos seconded this motion; and all members present approved the motion,except David Burton, who abstained. Reports . . Helene DeFoe submitted her monthly report, as well as the Clam s circulation statistics report for January. Janet urke's monthly report for January was also provided to the Trustees. All reports.were reviewed and discussed. The reports are attached to the printed set of these minutes. Helene informed the Trustees that Bill H4455 in the amount of$2.5 Billion was signed by the Governor. The library construction portion. f the Bill i $100 Million. Helene explained that the various library groups are looking to go to Boston for the public hearing when H4455 is presented for vote. Those going to represent support for the library construction bond would wear buttons to show support for the library-building bond. Helene will keep the Trustees updated on this matter. Library BuildingPro*e t Helene informed the Trustees that Barbara Notariu ,President of the Friends of the Library, met with Joyce Mason and Steve Cook and the Friends would contribute $ 5, o toward"green"energy for the new library building. Helene advised that the-Subcommittee and others went as a group to Pembroke Library and met with Patience Jackson. Patience made some very valuable suggestions..for changes to the design plans. A copy of Rick omroy's notes of the meeting is attached to the printed set of these minutes. Helene said Rick f omroy is the Owner's Project Manager for the library-building project. Helene informed the Trustees that she has started posting building updates on the library web page and she r= intends to update once a nmorith. Jane Dolan asked whether there.was any plan to change the front exterior of the building since it looks as though it might be too dark in the front area. Helene said,if-front not changed, perhaps lighting could be added if, in fact,there was not enough light. David Burton read to the Trustees a memo dated January 7, 2007 (sic)that.invites the Trustees to attend Planning and Construction Commit ee meetings. Included in the mem is statement that ihe commute insists the Trustee members not directly contact the owner's project manager, architect or engineers. A copy
