e
.r
t,
Mashpee Public Library
PA Box 657
Mashpee, Ilia 02649
circulation for March 2008 was 10,723 items. our year-to--date circulation total
isl001 051 items. We are somewhat behind last year's total of 102,565 at this
point last year.
The town is in the process of finalizing the lease on the library's temporary
space. Bridget and I viewed the temporary space several weeks ago with
members of the subcommittee, Building Department, Information Technology
and Fire Department. Melinda Gallant was present as the representative of South
Cape Village. We reviewed the requirements for finishing off the space to.both
the library and town's needs. Ernie Virgilio is working for South cape pillage to
coordinate the fisho off of the space. Work is beginning on finishing the space
is expected to 6e complete in about six creeks.
Catherine Laurent will be handling the mooring details. She will be using her staff
from the DPW and assistance from the Sheriffs Department to make the actual
move. We will be using some volunteer help for the packing and unpacking. We
have already started packing things that will be going into to long term storage. I
will be moving those items into the space provided for free by Flagship Self-
Storage.
We are almost completed with the Design Development phase. our most.recent
subcommittee meeting had moved on to lighting issues. I just received a set of
plans from Stewart that included plumbing and wiring diagrams. We still have
not been able to resolve the issue of the second staircase. Stewart, the
Mashpee Building Department and Patience Jackson are all looking into whether
or not the reprised Building code will be refused in time for us to comply with that
standard. The committee agreed to gait until the April 16th to make a final
decision. That is considered a drop dead date and the second staircase will
have to be added back in if the code has not been released.
I attended a two day Grant Writing workshop at cape cod Community college
late in March. It was very well presented and provides information that will be
helpful to me in writing future grant proposals.
Shelly Gilbert has been working on finalizing the Naming Opportunities for the
Friends# capital Campaign. I have read through numerous drafts and made
suggestions for appropriate changes. I emailed a copy to Ann MacDonald Dailey
to look at and comment on. she and Frank Trude several suggestions about
shortening the document and targeting it towards those whom might be able to
make lamer donations. A more general appeal will be released later to the
