Ed DeFoe helped with a -lot of the packing and has been transporting all the items to the self storage units on RT. 130. Bridget and I started packing storage items in April to spread the task over a longer time frame. The only items that werent glitch free were installing CLAMS and the phone system. David DelVecchio and Bruce Stello, Mashpee's IT Department, god CLAMS cep and running late Monday and did the phone on Tuesday, so we were able to open on time on Wednesday, June e. As it turns out, we only have one phone jack per unit. We are using one base unit and portable phones in the rest of the library.' Some of the units are. still on order, but once they arrive, we should be in good shape phone wise. The opening ceremony went very smoothly, despite rainy weather. I moved everything inside and we were able to accommodate the 80 people who came to the ceremony. Both the Enterprise and the Times covered the event so that should help our patrons realize we've moved. Several have suggested better signage at the old library to direct them. They are impressed with the openness of the main space. The store front windows let a lot of fight into the space, making it very bright and cheery. I'd like to discuss increasing the number of items patrons can check out. Patrons can check out 10 books,, 3 DVDs and 3 VHS. I propose increasing the number of books t0 15, leaving DVDs at 3 and letting patrons take as many VHS as they'd like. The collection just fits in the space now and we dont have extra space for new acquisitions. Increasing the limit will free up a bit of space for new items. The VHS is not heavily used anymore so it makes sense to let patrons take as much as they'd like.
