TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Tuesday, December 9, 2008 <br /> Board Members Present: Members Absent: <br /> Nancy Soderberg, Vice Chairman David Burton, Chairman <br /> Helene DeFoe, Library Director John Kowalski <br /> Carlo D'Este Heather Lakatos <br /> Jane Dolan <br /> Dianna Smith <br /> Vice Chairman Nancy Soderberg called the meeting to order at 6:40 PM. <br /> REVIEW OF 11/18/08 MINUTES <br /> A motion was made, seconded and passed to approve as presented the minutes from the <br /> meeting held on 11/18/08. <br /> REPORTS <br /> 1. Helene DeFoe Monthly November Report <br /> Helene DeFoe's report included the following documents: <br /> - Library Report for November, 2008 (See Attachement A) <br /> - Planning &Construction Library Project Update Report—12/04/08 (See Attachment B) <br /> - Budget Report-FY 2010 Town Budget(See Attachment C) <br /> - Janet Burke Monthly Reports. Two reports dated 11/01/08 and 12/01/08 are attached. <br /> (See Attachments D & E) <br /> OTHER BUSINESS <br /> 1. Carlo D'Este Dinner—the Friends have suggested having a fundraiser dinner featuring <br /> Carlo D'Este as the speaker, reviewing his book on Churchill. Carlo stated that he would <br /> be pleased to do this, and would want to include a four-minute slide show on the book. <br /> The New Seabury Country Club was suggested as an appropriate location for such an <br /> event. <br /> 2. Christmas Parade - The Christmas parade is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13th, at 6 <br /> PM. Staging area for the floats will be at the Sovereign Bank parking lot. The empty store <br /> next to Marshall's will be the location for casting votes for the People's Choice Award for <br /> the best float in the parade. Helene DeFoe stated that the Library float is well in progress. <br /> 3. LEEDS Certification—At the Planning & Construction meeting on 12/04/09, Rick <br /> Pomroy reported that Stewart Roberts now feels he underestimated the amount of work <br /> that would be involved to do the LEEDS work and documentation and that the original <br /> $20,000 estimate for the work was somewhat low. Mr. Roberts has stated that he would <br /> like to revisit this issue with the committee. <br /> 4. The Friends Fund Raising Contributions &Their Use <br /> Helene DeFoe reported that at the 12/04/08 Planning & Construction Committee (PCC) <br /> meeting, Catherine Laurent stated that the question had been raised by the library sub- <br /> committee as to how the PCC wanted the Friends' contributions to be designated, i.e., <br /> memorial plaques, or furnishings. At that meeting, Joyce Mason reported that the Town <br /> has approved $5,500,000 toward the new library and that these funds will be available for <br /> t <br />
