Mashpee Public Library
P 0 Box 657
Mashpee MA
Circulation in February was 8,8$3 items, compared with last year's
circulation of 8,475. In spite of the recent the cold snap. Y-T-D circulation
i was 82,266, compared to 79,256 last year. This year exceeds last year's
figures by 3,010 or 4°la.
The building subcommittee last met on February 1e and reviewed the
upcoming construction schedule. The final pieces of carpet were installed
on March and 7t'. Touch up painting is on going. Phones will be
installed March 17th. Computers are on order and will be installed later in
March. We are finally down to the final details and punch list items. In
reviewing what still is to be done, the March 1' date mentioned at the last
meeting was overly optimistic. Moving at the end of March and reopening
in mid April looks like the perfect time frame to coincide with completion
of the final tasks.
Bridget and Janet Burke have begun working on the logistics of the move.
They made a site visit to the library to view the available shelving in each
section. This will help determine where each section of the collection lives
and how much space it will occupy. Janet had some reservations about
the amount of shelving installed in the YA room. It was a bit skimpy for
collection growth and there was no real display space in the room. She
also didn't have enough hanging space for her media collection. A
representative From Tucker shelving was doing installation at the time
Janet was visiting the site.
The Planning and Construction Committee agreed to extend the lease on
the 3M conversion station by one month. It was slated to expire on March
8"'. We still have all of the stored collection items to enter. We are
finishing up with the media items stili at Joy ST. The new library is
undergoing a seven day flush out period which will end March 7th. Then
we will be able to move the conversion station and have volunteers work
on the stored items.
