Friends of l la hpee Library Activities <br /> In-John Kowalski's absence, Helene DeFoe reported that the Friends have been talking <br /> about staffing ai table across from the Circulation Desk, selling 010 raffles, book bags, <br /> and providing information on the Friends and basic library services. Catherine Pinard, <br /> who has been organizing the desk and had a training session two weeks ago with a small <br /> core group of volunteers, hopes to expand the staff coverage from two to four hours a <br /> day to all of the hours the library is open. <br /> November 2& and Dec. 0— Nearly New Book sale. Ilea high quality books that have <br /> been donated will be sold and gift wrapped. The "Barefoot Books" lady will be present at <br /> the Dec. 0 sale, as well as a story teller. <br /> The Friends-have bought two Christmas Tres and a Menorrah. One tree will be in the <br /> main lobby, and one in the Children's room. Trees will go up in early December. <br /> October 26th —A Volunteer Thank-You Breakfast was held in the Events.Room. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS <br /> 1. Request from Village crafters of Cape Cod <br /> David Burton reported receipt of a letter from the Village Crafters of Cape Cod, requesting <br /> confirmation of the scheduling of next year's Artisans' Fair on Saturday, August 13, 2011. <br /> The Village Crafters are asking that the Craft Fair be held in the library parking lot adjacent to <br /> Fit. 151, rather than the Green across the street from the library, for increased visibility by the <br /> public. The Village Grafters have also.requested the use of the Library Events Room on <br /> Thursday, Dec. 1 stl 2011 for anindoor holiday shover, the proceeds from which are to be <br /> x <br /> donated to the library. <br /> The Village Crafters requested that the library remain open all day on Saturday, 8/13/11, in <br /> order to attract people to the Craft hair. Helene Defoe stated that she is not in favor of this, <br /> as she has a small staff of four people on Saturdays and does not have funds in the budget <br /> to pay for four hours of overtime for four staff members, nor does she wish to ask the already <br /> overworked staff members to work extra hours on a Saturday. <br /> David Burton made a motion that the Board allover the Village crafters to use the library <br /> premises behind the paring area for the Artisans' Fair on Saturday, August 13, 2011, and to <br /> reserve the library Events Foorn for a holiday gift shover on Thursday, December 1, 2011. <br /> Nancy Soderberg seconded the motion.
