Kids Klub Preschool visited the library on October 1s . In the past,. I used to visit the preschool <br /> once a month. However, since opening the new building I needed to eliminatemy outreach <br /> programs. Kids Klub is noir planning to visit the library once a month which is actuallya lot <br /> easier for rye. There were 23 children that enjoyed the story time. <br /> th <br /> I attended a workshy in Lakeville n October 13 <br /> p r h and Susan Babb, Mouth <br /> Advisors for the Massachusetts Library System, presented a Summer Reading Program <br /> overview. Because of the consolidation ofth regional library systems and the cut in staff, we <br /> no longer have a "Statewide Summer Reading Program". The Statewide Sumner Reading <br /> Program was unique to Massachusetts and a labor-intensive endeavor. Instead, Massachusetts <br /> has joined the Collaborative Summer Library Program, a nation-wide summer reading program. <br /> Massachusetts was the 49th state to join (Texas is noir the only state not participating). With <br /> sponsorship from the Boston Bruins, MLS was able to pay the yearly dues for every <br /> -Massachusetts library for th summer of 2011. Libraries may be required t pay their own duces <br /> in the future. Each children's librarian received a mammoth summer reading program manual <br /> and an orderform for frpaper products: bookmarks, posters and reading logs. There are <br /> also incentives available for purchase. The thecae for tine 2011 Summer Reading Program is <br /> travel. The slogans ar .On e World,l , any Stories—C h i I d re n <br /> You Are Here—Teen <br /> hovel Des tin a tion—Ad u It, <br /> The Massachusetts Children's Book Award Book Club for 4h to 6 1n graders reset on October 21't. <br /> We have 14 registered members who enjoyed pizza (provided at cost by Pizzas Prima), and game <br /> shover style questions about the monthly book. One parent told rare that the students were <br /> talking in school the next day about hover much fury they had at the library! <br /> The Silverfish Book Club for 2nd and 3rd graders cruet on October 26 th. There are 1 'n nnb rs in <br /> this club and we are full. Parents provide the snack while vire discuss the !monthly book. Then <br /> the children draw a picture and these are on display in the children's department. k <br /> The Title I teachers frm the Coombs School held their annual parent meeting at the library <br /> n October 28th. The teachers chat with the parents while I provide a story time for the <br /> children. We had a very good turnout this year of 38. <br />
