Commonwealth of Massachusetts <br /> Board of Library <br /> .98 North Washington Street• Suite 401 Boston, Massachusetts 02114-1933 <br /> (800) 952-7403 in state • (617) 726-1860 • (617)725-0140 fax <br /> FY2013 STATE AID TO PUBLIC LIBRARIES PROGRAM <br /> THE CLOSURE F A PUBLIC LIBRARY <br /> The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners considers any municipality that closes its rain <br /> public library or ceases offering library service to the public for any ras n otherthan the undertaking ofa <br /> project to improve library services (such as construction, automation preparation or inventory) or the <br /> occurrence ofa natural catastrophe (including a limited emergency closing due to illness ordeath)to be, <br /> as of the date of that termination of service, no longer a certified participant in the State Aid to Pubic <br /> Libraries program. <br /> The Commissioners will confirm the municipality's loss of certification at their next regularly scheduled <br /> Board meeting. <br /> Once the municipality has Cost certification, it cannot be recertified as meeting the minimum standards of <br /> public library-service for State Aid to Public.Libraries as set forth in MGL c.78, s. 19A and 19 B, 605.CM <br /> 4.0, and current budget language) until the m u n icioa lity's ribrary has been meeting the standards for one <br /> complete fiscal year (July 1 through Jun 30) and proper application for State Aid to Public Libraries i <br /> made to the Board of Library C rrlmis i n r . <br /> Initial Approval of Policy: Larch 5, 1993 <br /> FY 013 Approval Date: October 7, 2010 <br /> State Aid Policies are approved annually <br />
