Mashipee Public Library
4 Steeple St
P o. Box 657
Mashpee iiA 02
508-539-1485 f
Circulation for the month of December 2010 totaled 10,940 items. That exceeded last year's total of
81812 by 2,128 iters. The monthly total increased.2 over the same time period last year.Year-to date
circulation is 94,238; an increase of 4 % over last fiscal year. We continue to see strong growth in
circulation.
I spent significant time over the past several weeks going over procedures with Bridget Bontrager so she
will be able to cover the essential pants of my job after my retirement in February. Because the town will
have to compensate me for unused vacation time and buy back a portion of my unused sick time, there
will be a gap between my leaving and hiring a new library director. i have been working with Bridget o
aspects of the MUNIS database that the town used for all financial transactions. Bridget had already
been trained in inputting payroll during times when I've been on vacation. There is some similarity in
how you enter data in other modules of III UNI . I have been training her to create purchase orders and
showing her how we fill out the paperwork for getting bills paid. we've been tackling the areas bit by bit
with time for her to try her hard at the various aspects. we've taken that approach -so she isn't
inundated with new procedures all at once. I'll continuo to train her until I leave and she or my
replacement can contact me if they have questions about procedures after l've retired.
1, have been working with Kathy Mahoney on getting some Teen programs underway before i retire.
Expanding young adult services has been a high priority for the library under the last two Long Range
Plans. We were able to include the Young Adult Room in the building pian and more and more teens aro
taking advantage of the space but didn't make progress on adding-services. lathy weeded the collection
f older;_outdated boobs and replaced many of the classic titles with fresh new copies. Now with the
generous donation from the Shanker family, i have asked.Kathy to work at creating new programs for
teens. Kathy has a Teen Movie Night planned for this month and is working on adding other teen
services to over the next few months. We have secured a movie license that allows the library to do
public screenings. while we obtained it for the teen programs, we can use it for adult and children's film
programs as well.
