However, during December seventy patrons registered to use the
Overdrive component of the CLAMS system to check out eBooks. For the period beginning July
1, and ending December 31, we have had 666 Mashpee patrons register for the eBook service.
Mashpee patrons have checked out 2517 eBooks since July 1, making Mashpee the third largest
user of eBooks in the CLAMS system behind only Falmouth and Harwich.
Circulation figures for print materials for the month of January are not yet available from the
CLAMS system, but an increase is expected due to other indicators. In January, the Library
issued 117 new library cards to users, which represents a sizable increase over the 62 new cards
issued in December.
Circulation figures for the expanded Saturday hours continue to climb:
• Saturday, September 24 880 items
• Saturday, October 22 859 items
• Saturday,November 26 1329 items (Saturday after Thanksgiving)
• Saturday, January 28 1299 items
We expect Saturdays during the summer months to post huge increases, as the summer
population arrives.
I missed the monthly Town Department Head meeting due to illness, but submitted text and
photographs for the Town Annual report, which I will circulate under separate cover.
On January 13,Eileen Chandler, Program Specialist from the CLAMS system, conducted two in-
house training sessions to teach staff the fundamentals of cataloging and how to do collection
development and purchase eBooks using the vendor's updated interface.
