r <br /> Mashpee Public Library <br /> June 12, 2012- Board of Trustees Meeting <br /> Director's Report <br /> Circulation figures for the months ofApril and May have been posted the CLAIMS system. <br /> For the month of April our total circulation (not including downloadable audio or ks) was <br /> 11,614. • <br /> I <br /> In May, our total circulation figure rose to 13,059, which is an increase from the figure of 12,793 <br /> which was recorded in May 2011. Our current year to date circulation stands at 154,362 with <br /> I <br /> one month left in the fiscal year, which puts us on trach to peak at roughly 170,000 items during <br /> the past year. <br /> Circulation of eBooks for the month of May was 680. Mashpee has 884 patrons registered to use <br /> the downloadable audio and eBook services. Total year to-date circulation for eBooks is 5828. <br /> I - <br /> During the past two months the staff has been working on a library wide project to re-barcode all <br /> materials and place a new duplicate barcode on the front exterior ofeach item. This is part of <br /> directive from the Massachusetts Library System, which will allow for easier sorting and <br /> delivery of inter-library loan item. . The project should be completed in the next several weeks, <br /> and is the result of a great effort by all.staff members. <br /> Staff has been working diligently to add materials in all formats to the collections. We <br /> purchased a large number of new video games and DVDs in preparation for the summer months. <br /> New materials are being added to the reference collection as old materials have been weeded <br /> and discarded. <br /> The Library will begin offering'software programs designed to teach foreign languages. Ten <br /> languages for adults and children have been purchased, which will circulate to patrons. We are <br /> also-planning to invest in an online language tutorial program to provide remote access. <br /> The collection of Museum passes has also been expanded to include some additional popular <br /> Boston museums such as the Boston Children's Museum and Boston by Foot, which provides <br /> guided walking tours of the city. <br /> On May 7, I attended the Mashpee Town Meeting. The Library's budget for the.upcoming year <br /> was approved without discussion. <br /> On May 9, we celebrated David Burton's retirement from the Board ofTrustees with a luncheon <br /> in the Events Room. It was a bittersweet gathering, but a nice opportunity for everyone to come <br /> together and wish David and his family well. <br />
