Passed unanimously.
At 3:40 we were joined by Town Manager, Joyce Mason.
Chairman Eliason expressed distress that he had heard that the School
Board has issued a letter to the Board of Selectmen that Town Meetings
shall henceforth be conducted and funded by the Selectmen I s and Town
Clerks offices budgets and that they shall provide staff to do so. He
stated that the Mashpee Cable and Advanced Technology Board has
expended funding under several very substantial commitments to the
School bepartment, with the absolute understanding that those funds will
be used for to the benefit of the community-at-urge, and that the funds
were contingent upon co-operation with the school department to assist
with public broadcast of such as Town Meetings and other events
important to the town. Chairman Eliason could not provide a specific f figure
but asked that Board treasurer, James Chisholm provide a number by the
Spring meeting.
Ms. Mason told us that the Board of Education has said that the Board of
Selectmen and office of Town Clerk must arrange for the telivisation and
i
transmission of these proceedings and that School Department has said
that it need not be responsible.
Chairman Eliason became agitated but said he would reserve comments
until a future time.
Chairman Eliason requested $400 to fund an Internet site for Mashpee
Fire Department. Passed
Chairman Eliason asked for $12,000 urgent request for Fire Department
portable computer replacements.
This fund was approved provided that the MCAT Board may monitor
purchases. Passed.,
