December 29,2004
Ann Whitlow, Chairman
Mashpee Historical Commission
16 Great beck Road North
Mashpee,MA 02649
Andrew Eliason
Mashpee Cable&Advanced Technology Advisory Board
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, MA 02649
Lear Mr.Bliason:
The purpose of the Mashpee Historical Commission is to preserve, protect and promote
the history and the cultural features of the torn of Mashpee. Part of that mission is to apprise the
citizens of Mashpee of the unique history and inherent beauty of their torn.
To that end, I have developed programs pertaining to Mashpeds history and geography. However,
as you know, in a high tech world, students as well as adults need to see and hear a presentation
with the proper technical definition to feel a part of it and to relate.
Lately,I have converted to Micro Soft Power Point, a program designed for presentations
that have visual as well as audio special effects. we have purchased with our small budget,a
laptop computer, but now need a projector to bring this program into the schools and various
town organizations. The Town hall has a projector but it is used by so many departments that it i
rarely available for our use.
We are asking you to grant us the Binds to purchase the projector which not only would
fit our needs but would also provide a wonderful link to the community and the schools. The
projector that we are considering is expensive because we need higher lumens to produce a
clearer definition. I recently attended a seminar at New Seabury Country Club where the Power
Point presentation was flawed because the room was too bright. As a result the audience could
not see the slides and became restless and talkative. The projector we want needs at least 1500
I umens to be seen under any conditions.
I have researched pries and the best price l could cone up with for a projector which
meets our specifications is at Best Buy with 1400 price tag including rebates.Because I have
incorporated marry old photographs in these presentations I need superior equipment to give
maximum enjoyment to the audience.
I am enclosing a pamphlet that I am in the process of converting to a Power Point
presentation that I hope to present to the community. I hope it will give you an.idea of what a
great teaching tool this can be.
Thank you in advance for giving consideration to this worthwhile project. I will be happy
to discuss it further with your board. You may reach ma at 508477-3670. I believe that this
project will promote and foster a love of Mshpes history that will instill in our children and our
citizens the civic pride that is needed for a town to thrive.
Sincerely,
Ann whitlow
i
