Bilil Shea reported that he had found an individual in Mission,
Kansas that repairs Amiga systems. Bill shipped the Amiga btler to Kansas, and for$230.00 the
motherboard was replaced, which had been corroded by the battery. The Amiga was returned to
Mr. Shea, who agreed to reinstall the repaired titler system.
NEW BUSINESS
CART Service at Special and Annual Town Meeting
Andrew Elias-on referred to the article appearing in the 9100/05 Mashpee Enterprise which stated
that in an attempt for equal access for all, Mashpee will have computer access real-time
translation(CART)service at the Special Town Meeting and the Annual Town Meeting in
October, which will be paid for by the.Mashpee cable and Advanced Technology Board. Joyce
Mason was invited to comment on the article.
Joyce stated that Mr.Wooldridge, of the Mashpee Americans with Disabilities Act Committee,
had approached her with the-fact that in order to be in compliance with ADA, the Town is required
to have signers or some sort of program set so the hearing impaired can hear or read what is
going on. Mr.Wooldridge informed Joyce Mason about an individual who does closed captions.
All he needs is a screen, doing it off a stenographee type of equipment, which is projected up on
a screen for those to read who cannot hear. The ma rnum cost would be about$loo. Joyce
told this individual to put on hold his availability for our Town Meeting, and that we would find the
funds to pay for the service. Joyce was seeking to gain the approval of the Advisory Board t
pay for this service.
Andrew Eliason clarified that this service would be strictly for the persons in the room at Town
Meeting, and there are no plans to broadcast the captions on TV. Joyce Mason further stated
that if the Town Meeting moves to the high school, there may-be the capability to broadcast the
captions lige on TV.
Lolita Mccray made a motion that the committee conduct further research into the details,
including costs, of how we do the interface in order to be able to close caution the two Annual
Town Meetings this year. Jinn Chisholm seconded the motion. All approved.
Andrew Eliason stated that he would o educt the necessary research.
