TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> CABLE & ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY ADVISORY BOARD <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Tuesday, December 9, 2008 <br /> Board Members Present: Members Absent: Also Present: <br /> Andrew Eliason Jaynes Moroney Joyce Mason, Torn Mgr <br /> Lolita McCray Peter Cohen Rene Read, Asst. Town Mgr <br /> James Chisholm <br /> Maxine Wolfset <br /> Chairman Andrew Eliason called the meeting to order at 210 PM. <br /> Review of 12/02108 Minutes <br /> Minutes of the meeting held on 12/02/08 Frere amended as follows: <br /> - Page 2, paragraph 4, line 3. Add the following sentence: Section 6.4 of the112001 <br /> license indicates "annual funding for educational and governmental access <br /> rogramrrringft c nologyhe MCA T advisory aboard is recommending that the wording <br /> be changed to 'programming ming anal technology- in the next license. <br /> A motion was made, seconded and passed to approve as amended the minutes of the <br /> meeting held on Tuesday, 12109/08. Jinn Chisholm abstained from the vote. <br /> Recommendations for License Renewal <br /> 1. Joyce Mason stated that the Board was going to have to take a position and a Grote on <br /> list of items to encumber the funds received from Comeast. with a cash balance on hand <br /> of close to $375,000, the Board will leave itself open to justification of what our real needs <br /> are. Joyce Mason stated that she is putting together a list of items for the Board to <br /> consider, including technology requests on our CIP, school/educational needs, surveillance <br /> cameras, etc. <br /> 2. Andrew Eliason recommended that the Board, in releasing Comcast from providing <br /> support to I Net technology, request some flexibility in the use of the funding received to <br /> continue to use a portion of it toward support of I Net technology. Joyce Mason stated that <br /> she will provide Peter Epstein with the language to be used in the new contract. <br /> 3. Senior Discount. Andrew Eliason stated that he felt the Board should push for a senior <br /> discount of 10% on the basic tier. There is no specific senior discount in the current <br /> license. There is a discount for people who can prove through documentation that they are <br /> medically unpaired. Andrew stated that he would life to add to the list to submit to Peter <br /> Epstein, the request to determine whether there is any enhanced language available to ash <br /> for provision for a senior citizen discount. <br /> . Maxine Wolfset's Recommendations to MCAT for Comcast cable TV License Renewal <br /> (see Attachment Af <br /> In the event that Comcast declines to renew its Studio contract with Ma tepee, the general <br /> concen us of the Board, along with Joyce Mason, was that it would be preferable for <br /> I ashpee to develop its own public access television studio, rather than to use the facilities <br /> t <br />
