RECOMMENDATIONS TQ MCAT
FOR CABLE TV LICENSE RENEWAL WITH CONICAST
December 2008
To: Andy Eiiason,Atty. Peter Epstein MCAT Committee members. Rene
Read, Joyce Masan, David Delvecchia
From: Maxine Wolfset, Mashpee Resident,
MCAT Committee Member,
Community Cable Access Volunteer with Channel 17,
Gable Access Technician for Government CtEanne118
Re: RE!;OMMENDATIONS FOR LICENSE RENEWAL
7. Refer to Maxine Woftet ss & jim Moroney's June 2005 proposal to MCAT.,
Joyce Mason and Mashpee Selectmen (a proposel for a part-time
coordinator to help with Channel 17; 18 and 22)
2, to anticipation of Mashpee's future cable access seeds, t am now
suggesting that the town hire a "full-time" media person/coordinator- _
especially in light of losing Deer Crossing's Channel 17 facility.
3. Please also refer to my comments that are on record at then"d
Ascertainment Meting in November 2008. These comments were made
in support of maintaining the community access facility at Deer Grassing,
and the importance of continuing to maintain operations at the Town Hail
(Government Channel 18)
4. Should Comcast refuse to "staffthe Deer Grassing facility, 1 suggest that
the Town of Mashpee do the following:
• Locate another facility to set up a community access studio
• Contact Joe Armorino of the Sandwich Cable TV, 508-888-5800.
Mr. Armorino has shown much interest in trying to accommodate
me as a Mashpee cable access weer
# Contact Debbie Rogers at Falmouth Cable N, 508-457-0800. She
had presented before the MCAT committee several years ago.
Falmouth Cable TV has done an excellent job of pitting together an
up-to-date cable access studio. Unfortunately, however, because
this T1/studio is very busy, it is difficult for out-of towners to #alta
advantage of their facility.
5. 1 strongly recommend that the Town Hall facility (control room, etc.) be
upgraded. In Oct./Nov.2008, David Delvecchio was kind enough to bang
in a consultant who made suggestions of what improvements are needed.
6. The town should make sure that all the equipment (new and old) at
Channel 17, Deer Crossing, be kept in the possession of the town for
future studio access.
7. Re-establishing contact with Channel 98
Thank you for consideration of the above recommendations. This document will
be emailed to the above persons.
