Town of Mashpee <br /> Mashpee Commons Advisory C omm i t t e e <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> January 27, 1998 <br /> The Mashpee Commons Advisory Conunittee Meeting was called to <br /> order in Conference Room 1, Mashpee Town Hall, 16 Great deck <br /> Road North, Mashpee Massachusetts, at 4 :45 p.m. on Tuesday, <br /> January 27, 1998 . The Chairman, Kenneth Marsters, presided. <br /> committee Members present: Kenneth Marsters, Selectman; <br /> Robert Whritenour, Executive Secretary: F. Thomas F'udala, Town <br /> Planner p.m. ) ; Sally Hold; Melbourne ra well; and Robert <br /> Lynch. <br /> Absent: John Kuchinski, Planning Board Member~; Stephen <br /> Brocato; and John Ferguson. <br /> Also present : Robert Brais, Consultant-office of Thomas J. <br /> Martin; Arnold Chace and Douglas Storrs, Mashpee Commons Ltd. <br /> Partnership. <br /> i <br /> NOTE: Selectman Marsters informed the Committee and Members i <br /> of the Public of his recent appointment as Chairman of the <br /> Mashpee Commons Advisory Committee as a result of the resignation <br /> of Peter Dini io. He also announced the appointment of a new <br /> Committee Member, Antoinette Brooks. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> It was determined to address the matter of approval of <br /> Minutes December 16, 1997, January 13, 1998, and January 21, <br /> 1998) at the next scheduled Meeting, <br /> Public Comment <br /> Selectman Marsters recognized Dr. Hastings, who introduced <br /> himself for the Record as Dr. Milan Hastings, and his wife Jan, <br /> residents of Deer Crossing. "Early in the fall, Mr. Chace and <br /> Mr. Storrs presented at an informational= meeting their plans for <br /> an expansion of Mashpee Commons. Many people attended and in <br /> part, a goodly group from Deer~ Crossing. A number of concerns <br /> and issues were raised. I might add, the alternative plan which <br /> subsequently arose, for land purchase of the Commons property by <br /> the Town through various mechanisms posed by over three hundred <br /> ( o) petitioners remains high on their agenda. We appreciate <br /> your taking this matter under advisement. Specifically, within <br /> the larger context we would life to address remarks quoted and <br /> made by Mr. Chace which appeared in the January 20th issue of the <br /> Mashpee Enterprise. He stated that at a recent updated <br /> informational meeting held with about fifty o residents of <br /> Deer Crossing, that most expressed support for the Village Center <br /> concept and expansion.
