MASHPEE TAXPAYERS ASSOCIATION
P.O. Box 1964
flee, MA 02649
(508) 477-3108
may l 1998
fashpee Cablevision Advisory Committee
16 Great, Neck Rd. .
I' ashpe , Ma. 02649 ` .
A `s Andrew H. Eliason, Chairman
Gentlemeni
The iapee Taxpayers Association have been in the forefront of bringing-
the meetings of the Hashpee Selectmen and other events to the cable users
of Ia.shpee.
For the past four years, through our volunteers, we have been televising the
local government meetings* At one time, we were able to offer "'live"'
programming. ' However, due to the remodeling of our 'down Hall, that was
eliminated. We had, however, been promised that the equipment would be
put into our new facilities when completed.
i
It has now been some two years since the completion of the new Town Hall,
and still we have not been able to have "live" coverage or to have fixed
equipment and speakers so that we -can produce a more efficient program.
In addition, our viewers indicate the sound is not good and that very
often speakers cannot be heard* .
We would like- to formally request that cameras and whatever equipment is
necessary be installed in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, and that in
.ddi i n...mobile equipment b madeavailable so that we could televise
other
m etgs which may be occurring within the building; ie Board of
Health, Conservation, Board of Appeals, etc
We feel bringing the activities of town government to our citizens is of
critical importance. We also feel that our Cable Television Contract
with MediaOne allows funds to be spent for such installations•
Again we ask that you do whatever is necessary to make our meeting roam
fully functional and that the cost be borne by MediaOneo Thank you.
Sincerely,
Pre dent
r
i
