numbers have been reduced, but the mix has not been changed. The
two hundred fifty-nine (2 9) number includes everything from a
single family house to a studio apartment . `
Mr. Iuchinski acknowledged the number of units in this phase
has been reduced from five hundred (50 0) to two hundred fifty-
nine (259) , and inquired as to possible future phases which 'would
add to the development .
The Town Planner agreed it would be more useful to view the
area involved, and reminded the Committee the original five
hundred oo number included the one hundred (100) existing
permitted units. He clarified the two hundred fifty-nine (2 59)
number represents the now units being proposed, in addition to
the one hundred (loo) previously permitted., and not including the
Trout Pond area.
Selectman Marsters requested Mr. Storrs and Mr. Fudala
provide this information in written form for distribution at the
next Meeting.
Mr. Storrs stated the Trout Pond area is zoned commercial
and that no changes are being proposed- -it is being proposed to
remain commercial . He also responded to the Petition for the
Town to purchase land owned by Mashpee Commons Ltd. Partnership
for preservation as open space (Whitings Road and Trout Pond) .
It was determined whitings Road is not appropriate from an
environmental standpoint due to the fact Mashpee Commons Ltd.
Partnership is preserving land anent to the Quashnet River. He
is, however, responsive to a purchase of the Trout Pond area.
The Town Planner commented the proposed changes to zoning
would apply Town-wide unless there are restrictions included
within the Bylaw.
(There was some discussion regarding proposed architectural
guidelines within the Town. )
Mr. Kuchinski voiced a concern regarding areas marked "Park"
having the same restrictions as open space. The Town Planner
stated this would be accomplished through the Special Permit.
The Town Planner commented on the issue of sufficient
parking spaces and location of liner buildings, as shown on the
Plan.
Mr. Storrs stated the parking necessary to support the
buildings meets the requirements (retail-4 per thousand, office-3
per
ffice-
per thousand, residential-2 spaces per unit) indicated on the
plotting plan.
Betty Nicholson inquired as to the five minute walk; Mr.
Storrs stated it to be a planning element- -a five )
