i Town of Mashpee Mashpee Conunons Advisory Committee Public Meeting September 2 , 1998 The Mashpee Commons Advisory Conunittee Meeting was called to order at aehpe Tower ilall, ,Conference Room 11 16 Great Neck Road North, Mashpee, Massachusetts at 7: 10 p.m. on September ber 2 , 1998 . The chairman, Kenneth Masters, presided. Committee Members present : Selectman Kenneth Masters; Robert Whritenour,, Executive 'Secretary; and -F. Thomas Fudala, Town Planner. Al'so present: Attorney Robert mills, moderator; Joe Stupa `, .Traffic Consultant - Duncan Wood, wastewaterConsultant; Arn l Chace and Dougl'a's ' -torrs, Mashpee hpee Commons Ltd. ,Partnership. NOTE: There were approximately ten 0 membe of -the public present; -this Public meeting was taped for television viewing. 'The Chairman opened -the Public -meeting and presented an Introductory: "Ire the fall. of 1995, -approximately three 8 gears ago, the Selectmen organized the first Mashpee Conmons Advisory Committee to -study the proposal for the expansion of Mashpee Co mons . The role of this Committee was to review the general concept plan and to make recommendations to the Sel-ectmen relative to -the -plan. In June of 1996 the Committee reported back to the Selectmen in a four page report which was up orti-ve of the conceptual plate., but which listed key areas of the plan which needed further study. To quote the June i,9, 1996 report, "The Committee feels that an expansion of the Vi l -age atmosphere created through the architecture of Mashpee Caranons in the introduction of housing, a hotel facility, and a pe-r o=ing arts center to this site will create a high quality focal point f or the area o our co�tur ity.. It will be appealing to both residents and visitor's alike. " After receiving the report from the Committee, the Selectmen in 1996 created a new Committee to take this report and work with Mashpee Cannons to addres's- the details of the program and review the areas of c one ern raised by the previous Commit,t e e. Of particular concern was some of -the potential impacts- v ich, have not re-ceived the full attention of regulatory bodies such as the financial impacts of such a development .
