Torn also mentioned that the zoning by- <br /> law requires40-foot setback from property lines, so we need a site plan to be submitted. <br /> Catherine Laurent said her concern is proximity to Heritage Park acid its use at a time of the year <br /> when the dogs are outside. Catherine said the kids will be making a lot of noise and she said will that <br /> in turn excite the dogs to make a lot of noise. As an aside, she said Town policy does not allow dogs <br /> on Torn property. <br /> Ronnie Warden suggested that conditions be placed with this kennel license if a permit is issued. <br /> She said the Board of Health heard the application at their meeting last night and they are going to <br /> continue it and conditions sat here would also be Board of Health concerns. <br /> Tom Fudala noticed that in the application they say they are not breeding the dogs but only 1 of the <br /> dogs is spade; 5 are net spade or neutered. Tom said shouldn't the dogs be spayed or neutered? Mr. <br /> Lopes said he won't do that because he might want to breed therm. He said he started breeding to be <br /> able to help care for the dogs and that's hoer he went from 2 to 6 dogs. He said they are his dogs <br /> and he wouldn't want to put them down or give them array. She showed pictures of examples of horrible attacks by pit <br /> bulls, as well as statistics of the number of attacks from July-September, 200 8. All were pit bull <br /> attacks. The material presented was taken from the website www.dogsbite.or_ . Melissa Shay said in <br /> each of these attacks all,dog owners said "ray dog is not vicious". She explained they lige in a family <br /> ly <br /> neighborhood where residents wall jog up and down the street. She said they have a backyard with <br /> a pool for the children, but if pit bulls were in the neighborhood she would be afraid to let her children <br /> play in the yard. Carmen Shay added that 1 pit bull is not acceptable in such a neighborhood; but <br /> are definitely unacceptable. Carmen Shay again pointed to the statistics presented earlier and that <br /> one Town had to pay a settlement.of$1.8 Million because of a pit bull attack. She has 2 children...1 o and 8.
