Small existing collections of AV materialsv'rlll be expanded. As other new <br /> material formats become available, they library will have space to start new collections. <br /> ap Periodicals and newspapers bolding will increase. What operational cost-benefits and or improvements in the delivery fibrary serviceswill <br /> result from this Ybra ry improvemen t project? <br /> • <br /> Larger Collections and a more comfortable facility to use the collections in. <br /> staffed Reference Desk will help patrons know where to direct their informational <br /> questions. -Patrons will, net have to line up with patrons in circulation services to request <br /> assistance with their reference searches. The staffed desk will provide better opportunity <br /> for privacy when conducting reference interviews. <br /> larger age range of children will be seared. Current programs and spaces are <br /> geared -to very young children. Middle school aged children and teens will have <br /> adequate space for studying. The new library will have sufficient space to offer programs <br /> for these age ranges. <br /> Improved Work Environment. This will contribute to greater efficiency and the <br /> elimination of inefficiencies such as setting up and breaking down chairs and tables for <br /> meetings and craft programs depending on. which purpose the meeting room is used for. <br /> Staff will have sufficient space in their work areas so they are not tripping over each other <br /> as they do now. <br /> Improved Sightlines. Staff will be better able to determine if patrons need assistance <br /> and be more aware of and be able to intervene to inappropriate activities. <br /> 0 Nose Reduction. Better design and sound attenuating materials will create a quieter <br /> atmosphere for studying and working. <br /> Greater ener d efficlenc r. The library is hoping to achieve LEER certification. More <br /> energy efficient mechanical equipment will provide greater comfort at a much more <br /> affordable operational cost. The li r ary is investigating if geothermal technology will be <br /> appropriate for the librate and if it has a reasonable payback period. <br /> e <br />
