i <br /> 100�694�5 <br /> Mashpee Planning;and Construction Committee <br /> Minutes of Special Meeting Held Tuesday,January 23,2007 <br /> M shpee Town Hall Meeting Room <br /> Committee Members Present: Eugene Smargon, Irving Goldberg, Kevin Shackett, Steve <br /> Cook, Sheldon Gilbert,, and Janice Mills. <br /> Absent: Joe Krait, and Tricia Parolski (Ex OfficioMember). <br /> Also Present: Catherine Laurent DP's <br /> Joyce Mason, Town Manager(arrived 7:12 p.m.) <br /> Helene DeFoe, Library Director <br /> Invited Guest: J. Stewart Roberts—Architect <br /> Audience: Brian Kehrl.—Mashpee Enterprise <br /> Gene Smargon, Chairman, called the Special Meeting to order at 7 p.m. and stated that the <br /> Pose of this Special Meeting is to view Stewart Roberts' scenarios on the library. Mr. <br /> Smargon then said we are not going to accept questions from the audience tonight but,rather, if <br /> anyone has questions write them down and thea come to another meeting and hopefully by then <br /> we'll have some answers for you. He said he really appreciates it but right noir we don't have <br /> answers ourselves. Mr. Smargon then said that one thing he would ask of the Committee is once <br /> Stewart is through his presentation we will have a question and answer period but he would <br /> gratefully appreciate it if they would go through the Chair in asking questions so we keep order <br /> in the meeting. Mr. Smargon asked Helene DeFoe to please join the Committee seating, which <br /> she did. <br /> 41 <br /> Chairman Smargon then turned the meeting over to Stewart Roberts. <br /> Presentation <br /> Stewart Roberts sa1d he worked up 3 scenarios and would walk through the floor plans. He <br /> began first by shoving the Plans that were submitted for the state grant and explained the layout <br /> and the sections for the building of almost 22,000 square feet. He said construction costs have <br /> increased; there are budget issues; and thus'that is why we are here. with that he presented the 3 <br /> scenarios. Copies of the layouts of the 3 buildings are attached to the pr*nted set of these <br /> minutes. <br /> 20,580 muare feet 2-story building... %decrease from state grant building. Stewart said he <br /> took about 5 feet off each wing. He said this is a first pass and that on second pass may be able <br /> to get some of the things back in. e said functionally this is pretty close to what eve,had before <br /> and he felt this should meet the requirements of the grant. <br /> 15..440 square feet 2-storybuildipi ...site plan the same; explained decrease in space; but said it <br /> should be efficient as a 2-story-building. <br />
