Tait motioned to accept the minutes ofthe Meeting i of February 11, 2008; Iry Goldberg ' <br /> seconded the motion; and the Committee members who attended the February I 1 meeting passed <br /> the notion; the remaining Committee members abstained. <br /> Library Protect <br /> Chairman Steve Cook gave an update of the subcommittee meetings'on the library project. <br /> MVAC System...Stege Cook explained each of the 6 HVAC s r tem options recommended by <br /> consulting engineers Garcia, Galuska DeSousa(GGD). A copy of the GGD Payback Summary <br /> spreadsheet identifying the systems was given to the Committee and was reviewed. A coy of <br /> the spreadsheet is attached to the printed set of these minutes. §teve Cook advised that the <br /> Subcommittee saw the induction unit(Option 5 on the spreadsheet)in a Plymouth intermediate <br /> school. This system is less costly to install and less costly to operate than the "best''system. <br /> Irving Goldberg added that it has very few mechanical parts and that makes installation costs <br /> significantly less and maintenance costs considerably lower. Iry stressed it is important to have <br /> the unit balanced properly; otherwise it would be noisy. The heating contractor would b <br /> responsible for the balancing and this point must be stressed to thatontractor. <br /> f Motion: Irving Goldberg motioned that the Committee recommend that the option <br /> Induction System be incorporated In the construction of the Library; Joe Brait seconded <br /> the motion; and it was unanimously approved. <br /> Solar Panels...The Committee discussed at great length what size solar panels should be used on <br /> the roof of the library building to generate electricity. Engineer IeSousa originally <br /> recommended 14.4-kilowatt solar panel system,but recommended building the biggest system <br /> the town can afford. Issues discussed included: <br />
