1lashpee Planning and Construction Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting Held Thursday,October 2,2008 <br /> Meeting Room 2 <br /> Committee Members Present: Steve Cook,Irving Goldberg,Joe Krait,Devin Shackett,.Eugene <br /> Smargon, Sheldon Gilbert,and Janice Mills. <br /> Absent: Tricia Parolski Ex Officio Member). <br /> Also Present: Catherine Laurent, DPW <br /> Rick Poroy, Pomroy Associates <br /> Audience: Nancy Soderberg—Back-Lip Liaison, Library Trustees <br /> Chairrrnan Steve Cook called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Steve noted that the meeting originally <br /> convened at 5:15 p.m. and then we had a tour at 5:30 p.m. of Fire Station . .urian I ehrl of the Ma tepee <br /> Enterprise was at the tour. <br /> Ap roval of Minutes <br /> Janice Mills motioned to accept the minutes of the Meeting of September 2,2008; Devin Shackett <br /> seconded the motion; and the motion was unanimously approved. <br /> Fire Substation#2 <br /> Rick Pomroy provided a written project update to the Committee(copy attached to the printed set of these <br /> minutes). Reek pointed out that at the last meeting of this Committee the completion deadline of the <br /> project was extended to September 12. Rick said the building was substantially completed on September <br /> 12 but we made sure we had an overlap to have insurance covering the building. The Substantial <br /> Completion was issued September 17; and Certificate of Occupancy was issued September 26. <br /> Outstanding items... <br /> Couple of light fixtures to be replaced and this 1s to be done next week. <br /> IT installation needs to be inspected. <br /> Antennae for the band radios cane in broken;they were returned to be replaced. <br /> Washouts/lands n g <br /> Rick explained that there are a couple of washouts,which he said are normal. Ile said roof run-off in <br /> couple of spots will have to be taken care of. Rick said the architect originally designed long overhangs <br /> which were cut back to save costs. Gutters never got tied into new type of drainage. Since landscaping <br /> is under DPW, it is a Town responsibility to take care of this washout problem. Rick pointed out that a <br /> lot of money was saved by going this route. <br /> DCAM' REPORTS...Rick said these reports must be filled out and grades the different contractors. �Ie <br /> said the reports are requifed by lave and filed with the Massachusetts Department of Capital Asset <br /> Management. He explained that when he researches contractors and subs this is one of the resources he <br /> cheeks out as well. Rick said for this project he sees no reason to-riot give excellent rating to the <br /> contractors,with the exception of one sub. Rick will complete the reports and forward them to Joyce <br /> Mason. The consensus of the Committee was that prior to Rick forwarding the reports to Joyce,he <br /> should it t let the Committee review then. <br /> Motion: Gene Smargon motioned that the Committee should see the DCAM reports before <br /> submitting to Joyce Mason;Janice Mills seconded the motion; and it was unanimously passed. <br />
