Mason, Town Manager Town of Mashpee 16 Great Neck Road -Mashpee, NIA 02645 ,:fie: South Ma hp e Fire Substation—Pomroy Services 4 i Dear Joyce— We at Pomroy Associates have found ourselves in a position where we believe that we ' have provided the Town of Mashpee services far in excess of .t ae original contract agreement and f would life the opportunity to review these additional services with both you and the Planning and Construction Committee. i As a professional., I find myself to be extremely loyal to, our clients and to a fault I ver rarely say "eve dont own that"or "that will be an extra". We do what we think is best at the time to keep the prof ect moving forward with the hopes that it all evens out in the end. The problem we are having with the Fixe station Project is that there was never an evened out and when I look back; f realize that the extras just kept mounting up from one - to the next. I would like to ,ta.ke a moment and describe some of the areas where I believe we provided services beyond our negotiated services agreement; 1. Project Duration—The original project duration in our contract spanned 12 to I months. The final l prof et duration spanned 18 months thru the end ofSeptember Zoo . Several-items effected this, duration; -I the design was not completed as quickly as originally projected, mostly as a result of re-design and, value engineering to deliver the project .in line with the appropriation, 2 the start o oxnstruction was delayed for 3 months to avoid the added costs for winter rote tion, slower winter productivityand n extended construction duration, and 3)p the contractor completed the project almost 30 clays beyond the contracted date, While the scope of our work did not necessarily change during the increased project span, time is money and there was additional cost associated with managing the project for a longe-length of time.
