C' <br /> Aashpee Planning and Construction Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting Held Thursday,June 23,2011 <br /> Town Hall,Meeting loom 3 <br /> Committee Members Present: Steve Cook,Irving%Goldberg,Joe Krait,and D.J.E1110S. <br /> Absent: Janice Mills,and Eugene Smargon. <br /> Also Present: Catherine Laurent,DPW <br /> Audience: Geoff Spillane—Mashp a Enterprise <br /> Chairman Steve Cook called the meeting to order at : o p. . <br /> Approval of Nina es <br /> D.J.Ellis motioned to approve the minutes of the meeting of May 18,2011 as presented;Irving <br /> Goldberg seconded the motion. <br /> Vote: 3 Yes- . Abstain. <br /> Steve Cook,yes Irving Goldberg,yes <br /> I .J.Ellis,yes Joe Krait,abstain. <br /> Old Business <br /> Catherine Laurent distributed written updates on the Town Solar;Green Community;and-Roof projects. <br /> The written updates are attached to the printed set of these minutes. Below are additional comments that <br /> were addressed during the meeting on these projects. <br /> Solar Projects on Town Buildings <br /> • Catherine said the deadline for the work to be completed at the schools is the end of August. <br /> 0 pre-construction meeting slate to be set for next week* Iry Goldberg will attend this meeting; <br /> Cather*ne will let hire know when scheduled. <br /> Building Department is to review the drawings. Iry said he would like to review the drawings. <br /> Catherine said they are just starting the drawings and Iry will look at thein when they are <br /> completed. <br /> Green Communities.Projects JRVAQ <br /> Catherine reported this is the secondg o-around for bids since 2 bids they received in April both <br /> exceeded the giant fund. Therefore the bid package was revised to eliminate Town Hall EMS <br /> upgrade and thermostat replacement. <br /> bids received and are listed in Catherine's hand-out. Because of time constraints since work <br /> has to be done before school reopens in September the Board of Seleetnnen awarded the contract <br /> to Meru Mechanical Services for$98,888.00 on June . Catherine said this is out of order, <br /> but time constraints dictated doing so. Joe Krait asked whether contractor will definitely get work <br /> done before school re-opens. Catherine said"yesPthey are aware of the schedule and will. ori <br /> Saturdays if that's needed for therm to meet the schedule. <br /> Catherine reported that the boder being replaced at the Police station is the original boiler. The <br /> replacement VA11 be same type of boiler but,obviously,a lot more efficient. Iry asked whether <br /> distribution problem will be included in this work. Catherine said that will be addressed under <br /> capital needs. <br /> Motion: Ir ng Goldberg motioned to accept the bid from Mercury Mechanical Services for the <br /> boiler replacement at the Mashpee Police Department and the air handier units at the KC Coombs <br /> School. Joe Krait seconded the motion. <br /> Vote: All voted yes. Motion passed with unaninious vote. <br />
