Update on 1 'Projects
• Town has hired Pornroy Associates to act as Project Manager, not to exceed$27,370. Funding
will come from the bond. Catherine said the thought was originally that between Catherine and
Brag Tripp they could oversee the project but because of time constraints they won't have time t
do it.
• Deadline is August- 'h for completion.
• Project construction meetings to be scheduled and once they are set Catherine will let Gene
Smarg n know.
• Catherine said there is a separate shingle crew and membrane crew so they are confident they will
get the work done on schedule.
• Portion of the work will be rather noisy so they are looking to coordinate Quashnet School work
with Summer School and Kids Klub Camp,
New Business
Quashnet School-Removal of Lockers
Steve Cook informed the Committee that Ann Bradshaw, Superintendent of Schools, was here prior to the
start of this meeting to say they watt to remove lockers from a room at Quashnet School where the
lockers have not been used for many years. They will remove the'lockers;paint the room;and use the
room for storage. Ann Bradshaw wanted to know whether this is something that should come before this
committee or is it routine maintenance.
Joe Krait asked Catherine what are they planning to do with the lockers. Catherine said if no use within
Town, thea they would probably-scrap them. Joe gave Catherine the name of an individual who might be
interested in using the lockers.
Consensus of the Committee was that this type ofproject would not fall under PCC's area of
responsibility but, rather, would fall under regular Town maintenance.
Motion: D.J.Ellis motioned to accept that this and all similar types ofsects are not Planning
Construction Committee responsibility but is DPW responsibility;Irving Goldberg seconded the
motion.
Vote: All voted yes. Motion passed with unanimous vote.
Archives Buildigg
D. J. Ellis said h6 gent to the archives building and couldn't believe what he saw. He handed a written
document to Stere Cook for discussion;however, since this was not on the posted agenda Steve asked
Catherine to scan the document and send to the Committee for next month's meetm* g agenda. DJ said
there are serious problems over there. A woman is working in that building that's loaded with mold and
spores. Steve said that's why the Town voted for the appropriation. DJ said you're going to leave that
woman there until you rectify—is that the story?
J said services going to that building is hanging off that building. A good wind will explode that
because there are no devices connecting directly to the transformer. He said it is a fire hazard. Steve
Cook said.if that is a maintenance item, then DPW can handle as a maintenance item.
J said it is really a contaminated building. Steve said that's why there is the appropriation. Steve said it
will be discussed at neat month's meeting. DJ responded`yee%we'll put the fire out as soon as we get
the new truck.
Iry Goldberg said in the meantime DPW will loop into it right away because it's been reported as a
serious problem. Catherine said sho will have someone look into this. She said they have had no
complaints of air quality problems. Catherine said they will also look at any electrical concerns.
2
