Town of Mashpee <br /> Recycling Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> ovemb e r 21 1999 <br /> The Town of mashpee Recycling Committee Meeting was called <br /> to order in the Board of Health Office, mashpee Town Hall, 1 <br /> Great Neck Road North, Mashpee, Massachusetts at 6: 38 p. . on <br /> Tuesday, November ber 2, 1999 . The Chairman, Glen Santos, presided. <br /> Committee Members present : James Chisholm; Stephanie Tones; <br /> David Leveil le; veronica leer, Clerk; and Glen Santos, Chairman. <br /> Also present: Mr. Cassenelli, Transfer Station Contractor. <br /> The Chairman declared a quorum to be present and called the <br /> Meeting to order. AS the first order of business, he recognized <br /> Mr. Cassenelli for the purpose of discussing the purchase of <br /> cardboard compactors. <br /> Ir. Cassenelli addressed the issue of cardboard recycling <br /> methods. He made a very conservative estimate of fifty ( o) tons <br /> per month of cardboard suitable for recycling, resulting In a <br /> minimum of $9, 000 . o o per year ($15 . 00 per ton , revenue for the <br /> Town. <br /> Mr, Cassenelli reported that both theYarmouth and Dennis <br /> Transfer stations have portable compactors, when Veronica Mayer <br /> asked where such a compactor would possibly be housed, Mr. <br /> Cassenelli stated the existing recycling area would have to be <br /> rearranged in order to accommodate three compactors. He <br /> further stated the driveway would have to be extended and that <br /> electricity would have to be installed. He explained two of the <br /> compactors would be used strictly for cardboard; the remaining <br /> three to be used for plastic recycl.ables. <br /> 1r. Cassenelli reported on prices he had been quoted <br /> including the compactor, 42-yard container, 5-foot container <br /> guide, levelling of fends, and hopper options, would be from <br /> $5, 025. 00 and up. (References were being made to BNE Stationary <br /> Compactors brochure. ) e quoted a price of approximately <br /> $10, 100 . 00 . He also clarified the containers are closed top, <br /> meaning they could be left out of doors. <br /> David Leveille asked if exclusive use of the cardboard <br /> containers would require the driveway extension as previously <br /> mentioned. Mr. Cassenelli recommended the driveway area be � <br /> extended approximately 25-30 f t . in order to accommodate pick-up <br /> p <br /> equipment. (There was some discussion regarding required <br /> voltage/electricity- and regulatory procedure. ) <br />
