rt
The chairman quoted an estimated price of $32, 000 . 00 to
$38, 000 . 00 for a bailer.
David Leveille explained he has a concern for presenting
accurate figures at Town Meeting, he requested an informed
decision be made when determining the number of containers and
compactors being proposed for purchase. He suggested that
perhaps one less compactor be considered based upon the amouxit of
savings to be realized.
After some discussion regarding cardboard/plastic tonnage
and savings, as well as hauling costs, it was determined there
are substantial savings and that the original proposal should be
presented at Town Meeting without change, David Leve.ille stated
he would review and verify figures prior to Town Meeting.
Draft Recycling Outline
David Lureille presented a draft outline of some of the
items a proposed Recycling Plan should encompass . He distributed
this information for review by Committee Members stating he would
welcome all comments, suggestions and input. He also rade it
quite clear that these were his own personal thoughts on the
subject .
The following are some of the topics discussed:
Additions to Phase -Batteries lead and nickel. , tires,
oil., white goods, metals, spent oil filters, compost,
refrigerators, propane tanks.
Phase II -Inventory of current containers and their uses;
convenience and access; review locations; costs; and compile
cost/profit data in a spreadsheet format.
. Phase II B-Acquisition of the containers; inclusion of
target dates 0100 : development of plans such as pubic
information, visitation to communities experiencing successful
recycling initiatives, invitation of speakers to the Mashpee
community; public questionnaire to become available at the
transfer station, as opposed to a mailing.
Phase III-Development of a plan for mandatory recycling and
"spay as you throw" ; mandatory recycling at the transfer station;
pay as you throw at the transfer station address the issue of
hauling; a completion date for the plan and overall recycling
project.
Phase IV-Development of a plan for curbside pick-up with
total recycling and pay as you throw.
David Leveil e urged Committee Members to review the outline
thoroughly for further discussion/revision at the next meeting.
-2-
