E <br /> T 0 WN 0 -MAS H P E E Town of Mashpee <br /> 0 '1 <br /> CLERK Recycling Committee <br /> 0 <br /> 00 AUG I PM 3' 38 Transcription <br /> June 6, 2000 Meeting <br /> The Town of Mashpee Recycling Committee Meeting was called <br /> to order in the Board of Health office, Mashpee Town Half., 1 <br /> Great Neck Road North, Mashpee, Massachusetts at approximately <br /> 6: 30p.m. on Tuesday, June, 6, 2000 . The Chairman, Glenn Santos, <br /> presided. <br /> Committee Members present: Stephanie Jones; David Leville; <br /> Glean Santos, Chairman; and veronica warden, Clerk. <br /> Absent : James Chisholm. <br /> The Chairman declared a quorum to be present and called the <br /> Meeting to order. He announced the Meeting was being taped <br /> solely for transcription purposes. As the first order of <br /> business he recognized Jennifer Baler, Mashpee High School <br /> student. <br /> Proposal-school Recycling Program <br /> Jennifer expressed her desire to initiate a School Recycling <br /> Program. She became interested in this cause after watching a <br /> movie on the subject in science class . she noted her school uses <br /> the same types of materials shown in the film, however they do <br /> not recycle. <br /> Jennifer stated she has organized a small group of students <br /> who are interested in this project- -Kimberly Daniel, Emily Dupe, <br /> and her teacher, Mr. Hopinstead. She has been in contact with <br /> the Janitor, Mr. John Cook, inquiring if he possesses any extra <br /> trash cans or plastic bags which could be used for the recycling <br /> project. Mr.. Cook has donated two trash cans and sic <br /> trash bags per day. <br /> Jennifer informed the Committee of an obstacle to her plan, <br /> that being the means to transport the recyclable materials from <br /> the school to the transfer station, and the expenses associated <br /> therewith. She has made an attempt to contact BFI, however they <br /> have not yet responded to her calls. <br /> Veronica warden asked which schools would be involved in the <br /> recycling project; Jennifer answered it would begin with Mashpee <br /> High School. she then asked which materials would be <br /> recycled; to which Jennifer answered, the styrofoam trays, as <br /> they are used on a daily basks. <br /> 'veronica warden explained the Town does not recycle <br /> styrofoam. However, she volunteered to investigate the <br />
