r <br /> There was some discussion as to whether or not the baler <br /> system would be justified for the amount of annual tonnage <br /> generated. <br /> The chairman stated the only advantage of a baler would be <br /> in connection with newspaper aper prices; which if baled 3s between <br /> $50 . 00 and $60 . 0.0 per ton. However, the market 1s subject to <br /> fluctuate. He noted that there is no bearing on market prices <br /> when materials are picked up by the recyc .ers, and also figures <br /> can be documented to the DEP. <br /> The Chain questioned justification. of a large baler; yet <br /> a small baler may not be adequate in the long run. There was <br /> further discussion regarding the costs associated with the <br /> i <br /> maintenance of a bale system, including contract negotiations. <br /> Veronica Warden spoke to anticipated annual savings involved <br /> with the purchase of the compactors. she stated the Town could <br /> not afford to purchase a baler and questioned whether the <br /> Townspeople would support such a purchase. <br /> David Leveille suggested the decision to be made before the <br /> Committee this date is compactors yrs. the status quo. <br /> MOTION: David Leveille made a motion to pursue the RFP for <br /> the compactors as originally agreed; which lotion was seconded by <br /> Veronica Warden and so voted unanimously. <br /> David Leveille volunteered to ,inform Daryl of the <br /> Committee ' s decision/vote to purchase the compactors and to <br /> continue review of the specs previously submitted. <br /> David Leveille clarified the sped have been prepared and <br /> are being reviewed by Weston & Sampson for any necessary <br /> corrections; and that Town Counsel is reviewing sane for any <br /> necessary legal corrections. <br /> Update-Com Electric <br /> David Leveille reported he is awaiting the reprised dollar <br /> figure from Com Electric and the Town contractor (Peckham) . The <br /> placement of three poles is necessary, which poses a problem <br /> due to the Verizon strike. The paperwork has yet to be <br /> submitted to Verizon. Mr. Leveille will make an attempt to have <br /> the poles placed just as soon as the strike is over. He also <br /> reported that power to the station has been included in the <br /> price. <br /> Discussion-Transfer Station <br /> The Chairman stated the Town will be responsible for the <br /> removal of the recycling attendant' s shelter (shed) . some <br /> resident concern has been expressed regarding the location of the <br /> - - <br />
