Nikki spoke to a resident In Natick about their <br /> program. Natick approved PAYT once and then it was subject to a"recall." The recall <br /> was overwhelming defeated. Natick has cu.rbsde collection. Brockton, which also <br /> recently implemented PAYT and has curbside collection, saw an increase in recycling of <br /> 31/v in commingled containers and 13 8% in nixed paper. <br /> Chuck questioned how to include residents with private curbside collection in PAYT <br /> Approximately�3 f the households in Mashpee use the Transfer Station with the <br /> remainder arranging privately for curbside pick-up. Gly estimated that,users of the <br /> Barnstable Transfer Station account for only 1/3of the total households. He noted in <br /> Norwood the percentage is closer to 50-50. Catherine noted that it may not be possible to <br /> include private curbside collection,but that MSW disposal costs with PAYT-would <br /> probably still be less than curbside pickup. <br /> Glenn noted that PAYT has increased operational costs due to monitoring and education <br /> requirements.
