Just to respond to your last question., It was a member of our f committee who is a resident in Mashpee and has children s Fr ;.f attending the schools who did approachtheprincipal of the Coombs School and discussed it with him. It was just an inf ormal }rind of discussion but she way given the impression that there would be no problem our using the -; .. school and, I feel that its very appropriate that. the Selectmen have expressed gratitude that Mashpee has been chosen for thisa . portant event. And it surprises ane that there would be any question about why Mashpee is an- appropriate place. It seems very obvious why Mashpee is the most appropriate place and why it' s very important�.. , . that you would host this type of event. And I 've been working with sandwich schools on the human .' relations committee in tens o developing ro nate - I curriculum programs to address . it po tant issues -In the . school that haven' t been addressed previously and a lot of our attention was focused on the whole quincentennial } issue, And it was felt that it was extremely el important that the students be given a balanced perspective on the whole Columbus quincentennial event and that in order to do that, that it was important to introduce other curriculum Materials in the traditional materials that ::,.. had, been in the schools that in fact the teachers and �} Superintendent felt that they were not adequately addressing the issues and that this was really an - '" - important event and have curricul,u materials available t: . < < n. .,. and have a play that' s going to b produced which til. � addresses a lot o issues ssues and at Sandwich schools have contracted to have the same play that we ' re going to be producing as part of our two-day workshopto be *.4} performed in Sandwich and I just f eek. that schools are -A recognizing that it is an important issue to address CL and Al - { .. . we re willing to do all the work to or Ani e this event _ -` and to get the publicity out aL1d really all we ' re asking you to do is to give us the facility.
