BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES MEETING <br /> TUESDAY,APRIL 10, 2018 <br /> MASHPEE LIBRARY CONFERENCE ROOM <br /> Present: Mary LeClair, Joan Lyons, Sandra Horsman, Amanda Hall, Matt Auger, and Allen Waters <br /> (arrived at 4:09 p.m.) <br /> Absent: Virginia Scharfenberg. <br /> Also Present: Kathy Mahoney—Library Director <br /> Mary LeClair, Chair, called the meeting to order at 4:02 p.m. <br /> MOTION: Mary LeClair motioned to add a discussion related to meeting room use and political <br /> activities to today's meeting agenda. The Motion was seconded by Sandra Horsman. <br /> VOTE: Yes---5 <br /> Roll Call Vote: Mary LeClair, yes Matt Auger, yes <br /> Sandra Horsman,yes Joan Lyons, yes <br /> Amanda Hall, yes <br /> Mini-Tour of Children's Room <br /> The group visited the Children's Program Room where Janet Burke, Youth Services Librarian, <br /> presented the new items acquired with LSTA Grant funds.New additions include sturdy child-sized <br /> chairs, adjustable tables, and a mobile makerspace. STEM kits containing items such as a metal <br /> detector,telescope,Makey-Makey invention kits, and a bird watching kit have been created and will be <br /> available for patron checkout once STEM Kit Circulation Policy is approved by Trustees. <br /> Public Discussion...None. <br /> Approval of_Minutes <br /> The consensus was to postpone the approval of the February 13, 2018 meeting minutes until the next <br /> meeting so all will have time to review them. <br /> Friends of the Mashpee Library <br /> Kathy reported that the Friends are currently working on large events. The library's 8"'birthday party <br /> featuring Mobile Mini-Golf will be held on Thursday, April 19. They are also working on a Tea <br /> Garden Party to be held at Willowbend Country Club on June 28, 2018 and an author event as well. <br /> Report <br /> There were no questions or comments regarding Kathy Mahoney's monthly report. <br /> STEM Kit Circulation Policy <br /> During the discussion regarding this policy, it was asked if$1.00 per day late fee was enough for these <br /> items. Kathy explained that overdue fines on Children's items are capped at$3.00 per item and that we <br /> do not want to overburden families with library fines. The CLAMS network is currently discussing its <br /> fine structure, including an option to eliminate overdue fines on children's items entirely. We will try <br /> the current fine structure and can adjust later if it is not working. The question of insurance on the <br />
