K-6 Transition Plan - Dr. DeMoura opened the discussion on <br /> this issue stating the principals have co-chaired <br /> parent/teacher committee whose responsibility was to discuss <br /> with the administration their concerns and recommend <br /> strategies to insure a smooth transition from the existing <br /> organization to three K-6 instructional units. <br /> In reviewing the assignment of districts, the transition <br /> committee and principals felt that delaying districting <br /> until enrollments have increased should take place. They <br /> have designed a new plan that does not utilize districts but <br /> does provide for equity in student assignments. <br /> After much discussion, Mr. Consalvi mads a motion to support <br /> three schools with random assignments, Hr. Petti seconded <br /> the motion. <br /> VOTE: In favor - Mr. Con al v , Dr, Petti; opposed - Mr o <br /> Paxton; abstained - M ,- Gibbs. <br /> Additional discussion ensued. Ms. Gibbs suggested <br /> supporting both of the transition committee's recommen- <br /> dations <br /> eco rmen-dations of two kindergarten through Grade 6 schools <br /> without districting in 1995-1.996 and implementing the three- <br /> school concept in the 1996-1997 school year. <br /> motion was made by Mr. Consalvi, seconded by Dr. Petti, to <br /> rescind the previous vote. <br /> VOTE; Unanimous <br /> After more discussion, a motion was rade by Mr. Consalvi to <br /> create two kindergarten through grade 6 schools during the <br /> 1995-1996 school year and in the 1.996-1997 school, year, form <br /> the third K-6 unit in the Middle School. <br /> Lotion was seconded by Dr. Petti. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> VII , See above for hese discussions. <br /> New Business <br /> Iiie 8 . 1 Sub -Committee Repo t <br /> Committee <br /> Reports 8. 1. 1 Negotiations - Dr. Petti said a meeting is set for <br /> December 1 , 1994 . <br /> 8. 1 .2 High School Committee - Dr. Petti reported on a <br /> meeting held on ]december 12 where discussion centered around <br /> graduation requirements and a principal profile. <br /> .2 External Reports <br /> . . 1 Cape Cod Collaborative - Mr. Consalvi was unable to <br /> attend the last meeting. <br />
