PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MEETING OF FEBRUARY 1 . 1994 <br /> A HPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present for the <br /> meeting : Robert Sullivan, Joe Del l agala, and Marcia Lindsey . <br /> The meeting convened at 10 : 10 a.m . <br /> w Y un n r i <br /> The Board requested Diane Rommelmeyerp the Town Accountant, to meet <br /> with them relative to the reclassification study of the Assistant <br /> Town Accountant position . <br /> The Board asked the Town Accountant to go over the proposed job <br /> description and discuss the recommended charges in the jib. <br /> . Item #1 - Diane said that in the absence of the Town Accountant,,, <br /> the Assistant T own Accountant has the same autho ri z at ion , The Town <br /> has chosen to have an assistant,, and it is important to have an <br /> assistant qualified to take charge when she is not there . The <br /> Assistant would make decisions on -her own, and 'she could be <br /> penalized by law . Joe asked if that was something new? Diane <br /> replijed that it has always been there . However, it has never been <br /> stressed . She said that it was never keyed- on how .important an <br /> Assistant really is . <br /> . Item #4 Diane commented that planning daily work and- activities of <br /> the work needs to be clone to continue to get Out the . wore flow . <br /> In 'the future, there will a construction projects ects coming up , Joe <br /> asked what made it an Assistant ' s job . Diane said that if she is <br /> not available, it is part of her professional development . Joe om- <br /> men. ed that the Town Accountant still has control of the department , <br /> Diane said that the position has the same duties in the absence of <br /> the Town Accountant . <br /> Diane made reference to internal equity mentioning that the position <br /> is on the same grade of the, Administrative Assistant position in the <br /> Town Clerk . She said that there is no way someone could correlate <br /> the two positions -- one is a clerical position. Diane mentioned that <br /> she compared the position with Harwich and Orleans and found those <br /> towns to be paying more . <br /> Bob Sullivan commented that he feels that the grade should be moved <br /> but not to a Grade 13 as previously proposed by the Town Accountant . <br /> Review was made of the comparable study completed by the Personnel <br /> Administrator. Bob commented that based on the review, the position <br /> falls on a Grade 129 <br /> Diane responded that she did not want to go the route of a petition. <br /> She said that she felt there is a procedure, and that she wands the <br /> Board ' s support . She commented that she would be willing to go along <br /> with, a Grade 12 , <br />
