PERSONNEL BOARD MEETING OF MARCH 21 , 1994 MASHFEE TOWN HALL The following members of the Beksonnel Board were present : Robert Sullivan, Marcia Lindsey, and Joe Dellagala. The meeting convened at 8: 30 a.m. PERSONNEL BOARD-MINUTES Bob Sullivan moved to approve the Personnel Board minutes of January 25, February 1 , 7. and 16 , Joe Dellagala seconded the motion . All in favor. MEETING WITH LIBRARIAN-AND TRU TEE The Board met with Helene leFoe, Librarian, and Tni Robertson, Board of Library Trustee, for the purpose of reviewing the change of job descrip- tion for the Library Aide, and the Library Assi}stant, a change in job title for Library Aide and reclassification of the positions . Joe Dellagala asked for a brief overview of what the Board of Library Trustees do Toni said that the Board of Library Trustees oversee the operation of the library in terms of the budget, people, the building and grounds, etc . They are elected and there are seven people ,on the Board . The Trustees work with the Director. They hire the Director, and she works under a personal service contract . Discussion centered on the request for the revised job description and upgrade of positions . Helene said that the mature and volume has gotten so technical because it has grown since 1988 . The library has expanded its hours . In 198.5, there was a new building* constructed . At that time, there were 34, 000 items and last year, they have hit 65, 000 'items . In 1968, a second Library Aide position was added for fifteen hours a week. They also have increased the hours of this position to 19 hrs . Joe Dell gala asked if there was- a steady work flow in 1988 with 34,000 items , Helene replied that there was time to do other things . However, in the past two gears, there hasn' t been time . Presently, the Library is closed on Fridays to the public, howevero the Library Director and Library Assistant work on this day. Joe Delagaa commented that they doubled what they pushed out and that they added a new clerk so it should' have evened out. Helene said that the employee hours stayed the same, however, they increased access to the public , F Joe asked why they didn ' t budget for more hours in previous years? Helene replied that they were instructed to level-fund and come in with a ten percent cut'. Helene said she felt that the most important thing was to maintain the books . Joe asked if they upgraded th.e methods to deal with the public or to deal with the books? Helene said that they have automated. They interact with twenty-three ether libraries , They no longer do the
