PERSONNEL BOARD MINUTES <br /> MEETING OF APRIL 25, 1994 <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present : Robert <br /> Sullivan, Marcia Lindsey, and Schuyler Wires , <br /> The meeting was called to order at 9 : 00 a.m. . <br /> ELECT A CHAIRMAN AMS CLERK <br /> Board members decided to wait until the start of the fiscal year <br /> in July <br /> to elect a chairman and a clerk to the Personnel Board . The It <br /> They that <br /> With two Board members up for reappointment, it would be best to' defer <br /> action at this time <br /> LIAISONS <br /> Board members worked on updating the list o liaisons . <br /> ons t various <br /> departments . Schuyler mires indicated that he would take over Leo <br /> euro s <br /> departments dine to his illness . With Joe Della ala being absent <br /> pas <br /> minutes, were reviewed for his choices . The minutes of February <br /> 1 <br /> indicated that Joe would be interested in serving 'the 1 . P,w. Building <br /> and <br /> Planning Departments . The Board also designated the Board of <br /> Assessors to <br /> Joe Dellagala. Both Marcia Lindsey and Schuyler Wires indicated <br /> that they . <br /> would be town meeting co-cordinators . Bob Sullivan would c ntinue with <br /> the Harbormaster,ter, Shel fish, and the Leisure Servicea artment . <br /> would also handle the Police e p Bob <br /> Department and Animal Control . <br /> ACCEPTANCE OF PERSONNEL MINUTr_. <br /> Marcia Lindsey moved to accept the Personnel Board minutes of February 28, <br /> March 7, 14, and 21 . Schuyler Wires seconded the motion. All in <br /> favor. <br /> COST OF LIVING wM EE 'I ARTICLE <br /> The Personnel Administrator indicated that Selectman Carol Jacobson <br /> was <br /> scheduled to move the cost of luring article at the May 2 annual town <br /> meeting . A second on the motion is usually taken from the floor, The <br /> Personnel Administrator asked that Board members be ready to second <br /> this <br /> article . <br /> FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE ACT <br /> The Board reviewed a draft policy on the Family and Medical Leave <br /> Act . This Act went into effect on August 5, 199for employers without <br /> collective bargaining agreements and on February 5, 1994 for employers � <br /> with collective bargaining agreements . The Act requires covered employers <br /> to provide up to- twelve weeks of unpaid, "job protected"' leave to eligible <br /> employees for certain family and medical reasons , <br /> The Board addressed the following issues ; r <br /> .What "'leave year"' will be used to determine employee ' s entitlement , The <br /> Board reviewed four recommended methods for the twelve-week calculation, � <br /> .Whether to implement a procedure for the certification by a healthcare <br /> provider of an employee ' s or family member' "serious health condition'? . <br />
